Build strong literacy in sustainability by diving deeper into topics impacting organizations across sectors and industries. The course focuses on providing a breadth of topic areas for the learner to gain exposure to a variety of sustainability terminology and information.

The certificate is comprised of four courses:

Courses will be a mix of asynchronous (on-demand) learning and synchronous (virtual classroom) learning.

CPA Canada partners with external virtual platform providers to deliver this program. By registering for this program, you acknowledge your understanding that CPA Canada will share your personal information with those parties who require it to ensure your access. Personal information may include your name, company, email address and Store account number. Also note that you may be asked to create a profile on the external platform that we use to deliver the program, and your information may be visible to other registered attendees on that platform. The Sustainability and ESG certificate

The certificate learning objectives were designed using the new Competency Map 2.0 and its proficiency levels.

The certificate is comprised of four courses:

Courses will be a mix of asynchronous (on-demand) learning and synchronous (virtual classroom) learning.

Course Outline

Learning objectives:

  • assess and interpret the various sustainability reporting standards and frameworks and the future of sustainability reporting.
  • determine the influence or pressure of stakeholders and how they affect corporate ESG strategy, performance, reporting, and disclosure.
  • explain and analyze the relevance of ESG in making financial, strategic, and operational decisions.
  • explain the importance of the control environment and good governance.

The course “Sustainability Reporting and Disclosure is comprised of facilitated modules taking place over four half days:

The following course is taught in a virtual live setting with knowledgeable and engaging facilitators. The course also has a case that will reinforce concepts throughout the class. All learners must submit the case activities and achieve a pass. A zoom link will be provided to participants.

The capstone is also only offered at certain times of the year but is not a facilitated course. There will however be an opportunity to engage for facilitator office hours as students move through the case.
